Passage: Nehemiah 7-10

In these chapters we are at a high point in the whole Old Testament as the people gather in Jerusalem (now with the walls completed) and the book of the Law is read publicly by Ezra. They celebrate the feast of Tabernacles and the people then respond with joy and in obedience to God's law. In chapter 9 they remember their history, characterised by God's gracious acts despite their constant rebellion. We, living this side of the cross, have even more reason to serve the One who has been so compassionate to us in sending Jesus to die for us.
